October 2008 Time flies! It is hard to believe it's been 50 days since Austin arrived. We are having a wonderful time with Austin. He has made some great progress this month. He smiled at Daddy for the first time in the middle of October, and around the same time he started following the pieces of his mobile. Up until this point he had just watched the shadows on the wall and stared at the music box. Around the third week of October he started making eye contact with people and watching them as they moved around. He loves music and has looked towards it since his birth. He is sleeping really well, and nights are great for him and Mommy - he sleeps for 3 to 4 hours at a time and then wakes up for about an hour to get fed and changed and comforted before going back to sleep. During the day is a little different - he is eating constantly! We weighed him at Thanksgiving and he was 10.5 pounds - that's 40% more Austin - so he is growing really well and we are so proud of him. His head and legs are SO strong. When he is upset he can actually stand up, his legs get so rigid. It is so cute, but of course we would rather that he was never uncomfortable. The last big event of the month was of course Hallowe'en! Austin dressed as Batman - he has started reading Batman comics with Daddy (Andrew has been waiting for an excuse to re-live his childhood) and this is his favourite superhero so far.
